As part of this year’s Essex Podcast Festival, Man About Country has created an immersive storytelling trail through Chelmsford City Centre.
Starting at the city’s iconic Shire Hall, the trail takes you to 14 locations across the city. At each stop, Man About Country brings Chelmsford’s rich history to life, from the ancient past to the modern day. What new stories will you discover?

Who Is Man About Country?
Aside from being a legend, James Lawrence, AKA Man About Country, is a storyteller, adventurer and history enthusiast.
For over five years, he has led guided walks around some of Britain’s most fascinating places, helping people discover the country like never before.
Fresh from completing Essex Ways (a 400km walking adventure around his home county) James set out to challenge negative stereotypes and showcase why Essex is one of England’s most fascinating counties. Following a sell-out storytelling tour, a film, and a forthcoming book of Essex stories, James is passionate about sharing the county’s incredible heritage and championing everything there is to be proud of.
