The Witches of Chelmsford – A Brand NEW Free Family Event This October Half Term 🕯️

Over the October half-term holidays, Chelmsford For You are bringing something brand NEW to the city centre: The Witches of Chelmsford, in collaboration with the Essex Witches Museum.

Did you know that all of Essex’s witch trials took place in Chelmsford, outside where Shire Hall now stands?

This event will uncover Chelmsford’s spellbinding history and the some of stories and history behind it.

Family Fun – Witch Trail & Activities
By day, families can follow a witch trail across the city centre, discovering why certain objects like cauldrons, broomsticks, and black cats became symbols of witchcraft – track down the items, learn the facts and uncover the spell word to receive your sticker. Alongside the trail, there’ll be a programme of magical, hands-on activities to both entertain and educate – from making cauldron slime, building a levitating broomstick, woodblock printing and so much more.

🌙 Evening Experiences – The Darker Side
As night falls, the event will take a darker turn, with activities designed for adults. Expect talks, guided walks, film screenings, and more, exploring Chelmsford’s eerie past in a whole new way.
